Pastor’s 80th Birthday Poem, written by Pastor Earl

Happy Birthday To You…. Pastor Johnson on your
Eightieth Birthday
It was eighty years ago this day.
Nellie Johnson gave birth, hooray.
You grew as a young boy of meager means
Grew strong and tough within your teens.
You were handsome as ever with your curly hair
That statement by faith , receive we declare.

You had your eye on the girl, at the soda fountain
When you went in she made your ice cream a mountain (wink, wink)

Joined the service and trained near Seattle
Korean War sent our troops to do battle.

While on the West Coast
Life was changed in your Heart
You Called on Jesus, got a brand new start

You served with the medics and mended hurt people
That was your first church without any steeple

You came home and stopped for an Ice Cream
Fulfilled that young lady’s wonderful dreams.
And when you went out the door
She left her apron right on the floor
You married that lady, pretty as a Peach
God had great plans and called you to preach.

You’ve served the Lord together for many, many years
Through heartaches, joys and many tears.

God gave you four children
Two girls and two boys
Your children love you dearly
They’re one of your highest Joys.
The girls are good at homestyle cookin
But the boys are so very good lookin

I know you wish you were
As good lookin as those Johnson Boys
Keep on prayin and believing
And makin a joyful noise

For many years you’ve ministered
To the Military
And at a wonderful church called Grace
Where the people love Jesus from many tongues
and lands and race.

I know this is amazing
you were born in thirty two
And all of us, we sure love you
and wish you a Happy 80th birthday
To You, from us, your crew

To Dad From Your Son
On behalf of all of us who love you.
